Jack Garner called the meeting to order at 7:10 with pledges to the US and Texas flags. Rondel Stevens offered the prayer.

Rose Head read the minutes from the April meeting. Walter Kovar moved and Web Mays seconded that the report be approved.

Henry McKinney gave the treasurer’s report. We had $1025.95 at the close of last month. $66 was deposited. The electric bill was $17.73. Our ending balance was $1074.22. Web Mays donated $20 and Jim Hamm paid his dues with an extra donation totaling $20.

Old Business:

The jail bond passed in the last election. So now we need to choose a point of contact person to work with the designers and other concerned persons planning the new law enforcement center so that the space recommended by Judge Fulk for amateur radio HF emergency service equipment will be set aside for us. Alan Brown was suggested for the job and he accepted.

New Business:

Ronnie Head reported that the new owner of our field day site is Travis Hall. He said we could use the site again this year but probably not in future years because he plans to build a home there. Travis’s wife Amy Hall is a school teacher in the district. Travis’s phone number is 325-451-0948. The gate combination is 2272.

Rondel Stevens gave the program about ARRL Field Day. He said it is our opportunity to demonstrate our communication resources as a backup if other systems fail. He described the contest categories. We usually compete as 2A. He described the point system, including the many ways to earn bonus points. The GOTA station gives us opportunity for lots of extra points. He motivated us with examples of our ratings in past years.

Rondel will be captain of the CW station. Derek Pausewang, David Lewis, or Mike Pansini was recommended for the voice station. Walter agreed to do a demonstration class for the extra points and serve as GOTA coach. There is one more meeting before field day to finalize plans.

Meeting adjourned at about 8:00.
