Jack Garner called the meeting to order at 6:55 with pledges to the Texas and US flags. Jack offered the prayer.

Rose Head read the minutes from the May meeting.

There was no treasurer’s report.

Old Business:

In preparation for Field Day, Jack showed his anchor base for a tip up antenna mast. It is secured with nails before tipping mast. Ronnie Head’s mast has spikes on it which sink in as the mast is raised. He will bring it and another mast.

Derek Pausewang will run the GOTA station on Saturday only. Walt sent him a packet of information.

Rondel Stevens will bring his 857 all band radio. Rose will bring her 706 all band radio. We should bring our hand-held radios.

Walt Kovar said we can use the housing authority tables and chairs.

We decided to set up on Saturday morning.

The June 15th Eagle has a proclamation about Field Day on page 7. Governor Greg Abbott declared June 20-26th to be Amateur Radio Operator Week.

We get extra credit for having a safety officer. Richard Stone nominated Jack and Rose seconded. After much discussion, we decided not to have a safety officer.

Rondel gave the program about the Field Day rules. It is an opportunity to show off our abilities. We get extra points for transmitting on emergency power, for media coverage, for public location, for info booth, for formal message from club to section manager and ARES officer. The power multiplier is 2 for 5w to 200w and 5 for under 5w.

New Business:

Walt said that both the Girl and Boy Scouts have patches for amateur radio. The local girl scout club has voted not to collect patches. The local boy scouts can earn the patch.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30.
