Minutes of February 26, 2015

Post date: Mar 09, 2015 10:3:7 PM

Jack Garner called the meeting to order at 7:15 with pledges to the US and Texas flags. Ronnie Head offered the prayer.

Rose Head read the minutes from the January meeting. Henry McKinney read the treasurers report. We had a balance of $930.30 on January 22nd. We received membership fees of $116. The electric bill for the repeater was $18.19 leaving a balance of $1028.11. Walt Kovar moved and Rondel Stevens seconded that the reports be approved. Both were approved as read.

After the program, Jack recommended that our programs be accompanied by some kind of visuals. He used a projector with his laptop computer. He is willing to make it available during club meetings for other presenters.

Jack recommended that the club buy a flip chart. No action was made on the suggestion. After some discussion, Richard said he would come up with a white board.

Old Business:

Alan Brown reported on the situation concerning placement of one of our repeaters on the new Centex tower. At the moment, the placement is pending further discussion regarding the costs of sharing the equipment building. Centex has asked for $75 per month. That fee is more than the club’s budget allows at this time. The placement of our equipment there would add access to backup power, and a secured weather protected environment. The club voted again to give Alan the go ahead with negotiations, hoping for a lower price.

New Business:

Henry gave Walt a check for Chamber of Commerce membership. The Goat Cook-off is April 24th and 25th. Rondel moved that we participate again this year. Richard Stone seconded. We voted to participate. Walt will reserve our booth.

Walt reported that the FCC and ARRL are renegotiating band edges.

Jack Garner gave a program with PowerPoint about his Inverted-V Dipole Antennae. He will make the presentation available for addition to our website.

The meeting adjourned at 8:51 pm.
