President Derek Pausewang called the meeting to order at 7:05 with pledges to the US and Texas flags. Ronnie Head offered the prayer.

Rose Head read the minutes from the last meeting. Richard Stone moved that the minutes be accepted as read. David Lewis seconded. Motion passed.

Henry McKinney gave the treasurers report. We had $881.82 at the June meeting. There was a $38 deposit. The July electric bill was $19.07. The August electric bill was $18.62. The current balance is $882.13.

There was no old business.

In new business, Derek asked if the club would consider a program, show and tell style, for each meeting. Jack Garner is interested in crank up antennas. Ronnie offered to do one, but after the club discussed how they are made and raised, Jack felt like another program on it was unnecessary. Rondel Stevens said we only use stack poles in the park for the goat cook-off. David mentioned that Jack might be interested in driving out for a look at Pepper’s antennae farm. Bennie Owen has a custom made K-line ham radio system at his house that would make a good program if the club can meet there. He designed it for CW. Derek asked everyone to bring something to show next month. Several intend to bring CW bugs. Derek can bring DX videos.

David talked about a software defined radio built in England that is modular and can accommodate all types of features. Yam 981 will be upgradeable with computer and is modular. Bennie talked about flex systems that use computer for nearly everything.

The Ham Fest at Belton will be October 4^th this year.

Rondel suggested that we need to do a Field Day contest prep session about how to talk on the air next year.

Rondel moved that the meeting adjourn. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.

After the meeting Bennie Owens gave a lesson and demonstration on how to cut and prepare coax for PL259 fittings. He told about the various grades of coax and fittings and showed tables about signal loss for various lengths with each. He used specialized stripping tools for the coax. He demonstrated the proper way to solder the wire to the fittings. Derek did a fitting and soldered it also.
